The Beginning of a Dream: Why We Started Jnananidhi Educational Trust, Chapparike
Every meaningful institution begins with a simple question: what can we give back?
For us, the answer was education. Jnananidhi Educational Trust was founded in Chapparike, Udupi District, with a clear purpose — to become a lasting source of support for students and families in our community. The name itself carries our mission: Jnananidhi means “treasure of knowledge,” and we believe knowledge is the one treasure that only grows when it is shared.
Why We Started
Chapparike and the surrounding villages of Udupi District are home to bright, hardworking students. Yet many families face difficult choices — between school fees and household needs, between a child’s education and immediate income. We have seen this in our own neighbourhoods, among our own relatives and friends.
We started this trust not because we have all the answers, but because we believe that even a small, sincere effort — sustained over years — can change lives. Great institutions are not born great; they are built, one student and one act of service at a time.
Our Vision
As a young trust, we are honest about where we are: at the beginning. But we begin with a clear direction. In the years ahead, Jnananidhi Educational Trust aims to:
Support deserving students. Our first goal is to assist students from economically weaker families with fees, books, and learning materials — so that no capable child in our community drops out for want of a few thousand rupees.
Serve the community. Beyond education, we want to stand with our village in times of need and contribute to local development, guided by the values of seva (service) that our region holds dear.
Build trust through transparency. Every rupee we receive will be accounted for and directed to its purpose. We want our donors and well-wishers to see exactly how their generosity is put to work.
